Stefan and Gernot met in August 2017 at a meeting of the founders. While everyone smiled at Stefan's idea, Gernot was the only one who was convinced that the world would need the RefresherBoxx one day.
When the first prototype was ready and working at the end of 2017 after 3 weeks of development, Stefan and Gernot treated their sports shoes with the RefresherBoxx shoe version with great success.
When in spring 2018 the media heard and reported about this fantastic invention, they recognized the potential of the RefresherBoxx. Together with Marko and Said they founded the company in spring 2018 to catapult the development and marketing of RefresherBoxx to the next level.
In 2019 we were invited to East Africa, Japan and China with our RefresherBoxx. These were indescribable and helpful experiences, adventures and development for us, our RefresherBoxx and our vision. We are very thankful for that! In the second half of 2019 we have completed a proof of concept in a 6 months Techfounders program with Miele and could show that our RefresherBoxx kills odors as well as microorganisms.
In 2020 the Corona Pandemic hit us as hard as any other. We didn't just want to sit still during the pandemic, while all citizens did their best to support where they could. We also wanted to help and have reoriented ourselves. Within 3 weeks we developed the Healthcare version, which is able to reprocess the most sought-after and less available respiratory masks and personal protective equipment, which are disposable products, so that they can be reused without danger.
In the summer of 2020, our Healthcare Version made it to the winners' rostrum in the "Protective Equipment" category of the European Hackathon EuVsVirus. About a month later, we were the only foreign start-up to reach the final of the world's largest start-up competition, the RICE Business Plan Competition, in Houston with our RefresherBoxx and reached 4th place.
While we learned how to develop in the business area at the From-Founder-For-Founders Accelerator Program of xdeck, we were able to convince at the European Space Agency Competition (INNOspace Masters, Category: ESA BIC).
